I promised to check this out and report back to the forum by the end of the week and here I am. I ask you take a number and line up, too many people trying to kick my teeth in at the same time could result in an injury.
Before I get into the Rx's role in this I want to start out with the actual incident itself as I feel that is most important. A player came to the forums with claims of winning 6k and not being paid by BoDog. Before the thread reached completion and we got all the answers the thread disappeared. Reviewing all the information I have these are the conclusions I have arrived at.
The player involved sent the wrong banking information to BoDog, that's the bottom line. No one has denied this or is it even in question. The service BoDog supplies in this area is not offered by many books so lots of us aren't real familiar with it. It is difficult for a merchant to be qualified to extend this service to it's player, there's an application process they must go through the way I understand it. What it entails generally is they allow you to play and make bets under the pretense all the banking information will check out. Whether you are up or down 6k if the bank rejects the transaction at that point the bets are all null and void. They are sort of a middle man in all this and they allow you to wager while your banking approval is pending. In this 7 day period the money is released early to the player as a convenience to them to be wagered with but there is no withdrawals allowed. Win or lose if the banking end does not go through everything is backed out of the system at that point.
Besides these facts which make it pretty clear it turns out the player has already played several little games with BoDog which had them suspicious to begin with. The original account in his name was set up on February 1st. The other account (the one we are talking about now) was set up on February 27th. Both used the same site as the referral and the IP addresses used overlapped which is what flagged this account from the start. Instead of being a Mr or a Mrs they checked the box of Doctor, LOL. Anyway while the banking transaction was being processed in that period BoDog called the lady who signed up for this account and she had no idea what they were even talking about. All the correspondence and information they had received was from the boyfriends email address but always signed off with her name. They were both very polite and understood that the banking end of it did not go through, it wasn't until the wagers won and the balance had gotten to 6k that they ever complained. The bottom line is once the banking information turned out be incorrect that ends this "dispute". I have handled many player disputes, generally they fall into categories of gray areas involved or a slam dunk towards one side or another. This one was an easy slam dunk for BoDog. Oh and one last thing, the account the boyfriend first opened on February 1st was opened the same way yet the bank approved the funds and when he won 7k he was paid every penny. Before I get off the subject I want to make a couple of observations I want to throw out about my first real dealings with BoDog.....
I spoke with Rob Gillespie to hear their end on this and let me say I am rarely as impressed with a book representative as I was with this guy. While in some ways it isn't relevant to the problem it was impressive to me just how detailed he was on everything we talked about and how forthcoming he was. Once we started talking he was extremely thorough on every question I had. Not only did he take me through each step he took his time with it and probably even answered the same question more than once I would guess, LOL. Very articulate and intelligent guy in my opinion that I will enjoy doing business with. You get a feel for what sort of business a person is running in how they handle themselves, this guy takes great pride in his. Even after all the time he had spent on this he made a point to let me know how to reach him if I needed anything further. In fact he's leaving the country yet still wanted to make sure I could get hold of him if I had any more questions, that sums up my feelings about how this company takes care of things.
The other point I want to make that isn't completely tied into this but worth mentioning, if I was a scammer I would stay clear of BoDog. Being one not familiar with all the tricks of the trade we talked about some of the more common ones. BoDog has 6 fulltime fraud investigators! And according to Rob they are good at it, the dollars they save in spotting scammers more than pay for their salaries, LOL. Interesting because some books try and cut corners in this area and then when a problem keeps reappearring players can get caught in the middle. I had always heard not many books spent as much time and effort combating fraud as BoDog does, I believe it. Of course it goes without saying if you are doing everything on the level you will have no problems. In one situation a player deposited $1,000 and turned it into over $118,000!! The fraud people looked into the situation as this is an odd occurrence but when it all checked out this player was paid what he had coming, no questions asked. You have no worries with this book if you are an honest player, if you are looking to make a dishonest buck I would look elsewhere.
Getting past the actual incident I want to be the first to say there were some mistakes made by us here at the RX. The reason was it was not followed through with as quickly as we should have, and then on top of that the whole thread disappeared. When the RX tells people we will get back to them then we need to do it. That includes me. When we don't there is no excuse. I could make a couple excuses for Ken such as he had no Peep or McIrish at this time but in my view you either get it done or you don't. Ihave said these words to Ken even after I was hired, you must step up in these threads and answer the bell. Ken has already apologized to the forum for this matter and I offer mine up as well. It won't happen again. You will come to find out I take things like this VERY seriously. The other issue in this mess was the disappearance of the thread. Would be foolish of me to guess what happened. We do know there was a massive hack job that the site endured plus there was a change over instituted as well during that time frame. Still having said that I can not say with any degree of certainty where the thread ended up. From our end since arriving here we have had people check diligently into this, RPM has even gone sheet by sheet through a 467 page folder looking for this thread. Dante went through another 100 sheets. As a poster I said then and I say now it looked bad on us even if there was an innocent explanation. We can speculate forever about change-overs but the reality is we may not ever know. For the way this whole things was handled we owed an apology not only to our readers but also to BoDog. We should have handled it better than we did and we aim to do just that in the future.
In closing I want to say I know not everyone will be satisfied here. Other than the readers who just want good information there are always people who have an agenda on forums. If someone doesn't like BoDog then it is easy to make an accusation over the anonymity of the internet. If someone doesn't like the RX again it is easy to stir up things without much effort. Even on my end, since I was very vocal on this situation many will spend a great deal of time and effort showing what I posted last month. I don't have time for it. I looked thoroughly into it and there is no question BoDog did anything wrong. As far as what we did I didn't even try and make us look innocent, we screwed up and owned up to it. We have learned from it and will move on. As readers you will have to make your own decision on things with what is presented. Talk is cheap but the bottom line is we will be here to help players anyway we can. No post will ever make 100% of the people happy including this one but the bottom line is I stand by what I have written here. I was hard on the RX about this at one time as the silence concerned me, now that I have looked into it the only concern was the way we handled it. We have a great team here and it will not happen again under my watch, if things like this go on not only will I step down I will do it long before anyone asks me to. At the risk of sounding sappy it gives me great pride and personal satisfaction when we help someone. We got someone paid yesterday and in his e-mail thanking us he said I don't have any idea of how to show you my appreciation. He already has. The RX helps a lot of people and does a lot of good but like everyone else makes a mistake from time to time. Keep in mind I will be here to help the players but helping the players does not always mean the player is right. I am finding that out more and more as I go along. If I can be of further assistance please feel free to contact me on the matter.
